The most important facts in brief
Our gravel tour starts in Arusha at the foot of Mount Meru and leads between two volcanoes towards Kilimanjaro, which accompanies us again and again with impressive views. On varied natural roads, asphalt passages and single trails, we cross savannahs, villages and fertile highlands, with a bit of luck in the midst of giraffes, zebras or antelopes. Via the Pare Mountains and along the Mkomazi National Park, we reach the panoramic Usambara Mountains before a long descent takes us down to the plains. The last few kilometers bring us faster, palm trees appear and the Indian Ocean draws closer. After a rest day on the beach at Ushongo, we cross over to Zanzibar, where the final stage through Stone Town brings this extraordinary gravel tour to an exotic close.
Note: Occasionally we may have to push our bikes on short sections - be it because of rough roads, steep ramps or a surprise downpour.
